Florida State University
Florida State University (FSU) is located in Tallahassee, our state capital.
FSU has two admission deadlines - November 1, 2017 (Decision date January 25th 2018) and February 7th (Decision date March 29, 2018).
If you want to be an FSU Seminole I urge you to meet their first deadline as the majority of the freshman class is made up of the first application decision pool. In order to be considered for first deadline, FSU MUST receive all 4 parts of the application (application including essay and resume, $30 application fee (can be waived if on free or reduced-priced lunch), SAT/ACT test scores sent directly from the testing centers, and the Student Self-reported Academic Record (SSAR) BY THE NOVEMBER 1st DUE DATE.
Students complete the SSAR by referring to Virtual Counselor or asking for an unofficial transcript in order to see what their courses and grades were throughout high school (or middle school if high school courses were taken).
FSU will use up to the November SAT/ACT test for first deadline consideration. Many students may be wait-listed and re-reviewed for second deadline. That is why senior grades are so important. Wait-listed students will probably be asked to either send first semester senior grades or new SAT/ACT test scores.
FSU has a great program for first generation low-income students (students who are the first in their family to attend college). The program is called THE CARE Summer Bridge Program (SBP). To apply for SBP, simply check the summer bridge box on the application. If you apply to the program, you CANNOT use the SSAR, you must send an official high school transcript by making an electronic transcript request in Guidance.
